Cool! My Space Dragon got front paged in April! I didn't know about it until a few days ago, since I didn't get any notifications regarding it, but this is now currently my most popular piece on NG:

As said in the description- I'd really appreciate it if you gave this a like and/or RT on Twitter! I could really use the engagement- the new algorithm is affecting my income/business, making it much slower and my posts more invisible. RTs/Likes are greatly appreciated. It helps me a ton and can potentially find me my next job.

Also hello to all my new followers! If you liked my space dragon, be sure to browse my gallery and fill your favorites tab with even more of my past submissions of kaiju and beasts galore. I got plenty more where that came from. As always: expect more monsters, dinosaurs, creatures, and inky black traditional goodness from your's truly!

UPDATE 03/10/2022- Monster March is still live, only temporarily delayed. I'm prepping for a costume convention we got invited to last minute, so I'm shifting focus right now! Go look at all the monsters I have posted in the mean time until I resume track!

UPDATE #2 03/17/2022- Getting in the swing to begin resuming Monster March. Thanks for your patience!

UPDATE #3- I am unable to continue Monster March. This is unfortunate as I normally complete prompts, so it bugs me. My next prompt will be in November!

I know a lot is going on in the world right now, and while it may not seem like the best time to start an art prompt- this was a choice I made since last year to do and I have been waiting months to start it. I am not tone deaf to the world crisis at hand- I will include some links at the end of this post for you to check out if you care to help the Ukranian tragedy. I have a friend over there I want to see thrive and survive.

Anyway, I would like to quickly announce that I am starting a new prompt - Monster March! A month long prompt focusing on the creation of me catapulting more monsters into the world! How fun! I heard your cries and pleas for more art and monster action, so Tune in everyday for a new monster! Some will have lore, others won't but that's part of the fun you know?

Here are the links I promised earlier to direct you to helping Ukraine:

Aaaand here we start the Lunar New Year with one of my favorite animals! Tigers are quite special to me and always have been- also if you like astrology and that sort of stuff- I have a tiger in my sign chart :)

Tigers on the positive can represent courage, bravery and generosity to those they feel earn it!

I'd love if you wished me a Happy Year of the Tiger! It means a lot to me!

May the Tiger reign supreme this year!

Here- I made myself a Claw-Fi (Kofi), Buzzly, Mastodon, and an Art-fight! All links are under construction and I'll be updating them at my own pace! I want to try several new places for my art! I need to branch out more.

https://buzzly.art/~Byinkko (Now considering against- may delete in future)

https://mastodon.social/web/@byinkko

I'm plugging my Instagram and Twitter again. I'm doing a cool project where I'm drawing a small tiger in a calendar planner for the rest of this Lunar New Year! From now, Feb. 1 2022 until Jan. 22 2023- you can see each of my daily tiger drawings on Twitter and/or Instagram! Go follow me there and spread the love!

As always- thanks for following me wherever you keep track of my art. More to come!

EDIT:// Gosh darnit- I forgot to make a Linktree and a Carrd. I guess I'll be getting those out later too! :/

So, I doubt I will get any more commissions before 2022 at this point- and I got tired of looking at my birthday post on repeat.

Here's my annual commission visual recap:

- February. Twitter user.

- April. Twitter user.

- April. Twitter user.

- April. Twitter user.

- June. This one wasn't a commission more so than it was sold to someone.

- June. Twitter user. Repeat customer.

Others not found here:

  • Repeat customer ordered a pet portrait of their cat in June.
  • A local game store reached out to me and asked me to design an MTG shirt back in the Spring (like March-April). I forgot to post it and by now I believe the shirts are sold out anyway.
  • An Instagram/Reddit user commissioned me for a pet portrait of their now dearly departed dog in November.

TOTAL: 9 (8 if you don't count selling my creature)

Busiest Month: April

Repeat customers: 1 (technically 2)

Summary (Here's the empowerment part)

2021 was indeed a high-flying shit show but one good thing it did show was a striking increase in the normal amount of commissions I usually get. Historically/Realistically speaking- I don't get that many commissions and never have gotten that many in the first place. (To put that in perspective, I used to get 1 if I was lucky enough. And that was either every year or other year. There was no pattern.) People had this weird idea that I was always swamped with commissions and that stung because for A) They never thought to ask or was just saying that to try and be nice. Also for B) thinking something that isn't true that you wish was true. That hurts when you realize you could've had a better support system if people actually had the genuine interest to ask rather than assume. I ended up hiking my pants up about people treating me better and getting what I want and need out of life.

After finally admitting I was tired of fighting myself and getting exhausted of putting in more work than the return I was getting, I started pushing myself a bit more and it worked. I do art because I enjoy it, but it helps to get paid too. I believe in a hobby and the love of the craft, but I also believe in being rewarded for your talents too so you don't get taken advantage of or burnt out. There's a balance and everyone's different with what balance works for them. This is one lesson 2021 has endowed in me is to be comfortable asking for payment. I think I earned the right after years of even thinking asking for pay made me believe I would be a greedy S.O.B for doing so. I'm actively Pulling the bullet out of my foot for that one and making up for lost time. I deserve better. It took several shameless plugs and apparently never-ending self promotion- but I got at least 1000% more than I did if I stayed quiet. Repeat customers rock lol

I got 9 commissions in 2021. To me, as a small artist who used to receive no commissions at all and started feeling pretty defeated and worthless- that's amazing to me. That's growth people. That's progress. We all need it in order to live and function. I was talented before, but now I can tell my talents have become honed and better- especially through this excessive practice of art I've done this year. It's incredible. I expect nothing less from myself than to go upward.

I'd like to beat my record in 2022. It will be super embarrassing & depressing to me if I don't get ANY, especially in 2022.

(I do have at least two or three possible prospects for commissions. However, all three were SUPPOSED to be for this year. If they happen next year, that will be spectacular!)

2022 is going to be a super important year for me personally. More on that later. I hope you celebrate with me. I have big plans I'd like to see take off and I could use your help!

Consider making my 2022 even more special by commissioning me, art trading with me and continuing to support my work! Or all three!

I also want to quickly mention in addition to the commission increase, I did see a rise in followers and something of a surge of an audience. I have met a few nice people already, and I really want to connect with more people & artists, but they have to put in the effort too. I refuse to forge anymore one-way relationships after an abundance of them almost killed me and my healing rate is dreadfully slow on this kind of thing. This is also important to someone like me who has had 25+ years of experience and is finally now starting to even get a fraction of something I probably should have had a long time ago- people showing interest in my work, meeting like-minded individuals that don't put me down, people that want to see me succeed, growing my talents, putting myself out there and essentially making my own cards because the hand I was dealt was less than favorable.

Thank you to anyone and everyone on board with me and wanting to stay included in the journey. I mean that. More to come!

Also special shout out to the KaiJune prompt I did that I credit to raking me in most of the traction that I garnered this year. Looks like I will be doing more prompts later on!

Title says it all.

I tore something in my back while moving so unfortunately I'm stuck at home and in pain until I'm better.

Feel free to say Happy birthday to me. Or follow me on any/all my platforms. Or share a video/picture of something I'm into. If you aren't sure of what I like just look in my gallery. I'll be around. And its all free to do.

Well- I finished KaiJune and not a day missed. (Funny enough, July could also be full of Kaiju as KaiJuly. I'll keep it in mind, even if for next year!) I'm very grateful for all the new followers I got throughout this project, so thank you for choosing me to fuel your art-feed and I hope you stick around to see more of my stuff. I can always use more followers and engagement though as a small content creator just trying to make their way in the world, both as a passion I haven't given up on after 25+ years and making use of it so it isn't totally wasted! Even though life has been particularly heavy and unkind to me lately, I overall enjoyed doing this prompt. Monster-making suits me like a comfortable clawed glove.

I'm most likely to ink some of these kaiju in the future- I love ink and monsters too much not to make that combo happen.

If you missed any of my kaiju creations and want to look back in my gallery- I got 30 kaiju in all. 28 original, 2 fanart. Go favorite a few (or all of them lol) and tell me which ones are your favorites of the 30 I drew. I'm quite curious to know which of my kaiju designs that weren't fanart were your favorites! You can have multiple favorites, yes. Why limit yourself when it comes to badass monsters?

In the meantime, here is a lookback on some of my personal favorites (listed in order of release, not sentimental value) :

I have some more that I could list as honorable mentions, but at that point- I think it would take away the incentive for you to actually browse my gallery yourself to see the rest you missed. ;) That's what I would like to happen anyway!

Are You guys enjoying KaiJune so far- chiefly speaking my own creations for it? :)

If you are, here's a checklist:

  • Follow me if you haven't already!
  • Favorite a few of my arts
  • Rate me nice and high
  • Comment which ones are your favorites here on this journal! (I'd love to know which ones you like the best.)

It'll make me feel good.

Other than that, some stuff I'd like to announce:

I was THIS close (and by this close my thumb nail and index nail are exactly one millimeter apart from touching) to actually putting up the rest of my KaiJune via Patreon. I decided against it because I thought it was a bit sleazy to slam a paywall without warning in the middle of an original content-conveyor belt that has been, quite frankly, kind to me. (If I had announced it at the start of KaiJune, then I would have done it.)

Please don't let that muddle your affections for my art- Honestly, I'm just trying to do better for myself and I'm long overdue for said positive changes. I don't really have a good support system and don't get many 'pushes' from other people or have too many people looking out for me, I wish I did, but I have to work with what I got but I'm not afraid to speak up about it. It is both my passion and my business, and without that regulation, I can't expect to ever grow in anyway. Honestly, I feel like I put in TOO MUCH detail for this KaiJune thing, and I'm both okay and not okay with that, given the info I just gave you. So- next art prompt I do I think I'm going to use that method. It'll give me a chance to actually use Patreon and have content there like I want to. I'd still be doing free content, but then want to give myself the chance to be supported in more of the ways I feel like I & my talents deserve too.

The last thing I was going to mention was there will be no post for today - the 15th. I wasn't feeling anything that I was coming up with. Today's was 'FREE SPACE' anyway, so I may revisit it later or just change the number to the last day of June. So I actually haven't missed a day yet :)

Don't ask me how this is possible, but I came across an art prompt for the first time called 'KaiJune'. The name was too good too pass up and my last prompt was 4ish years ago- so I guess it's about time to try another one.

They will all be in pencil for now (maybe inked later), and will include a small bit of lore to give them more personality and stand out! So be sure to read the descriptions!

I'll be posting them all here, but if you want to follow along on other platforms, I haven't plugged my Instagram & Twitter outside of my links tab here so HMU on all the sites if you want to spread the support evenly! I love what I do but I'm an almost invisible small creator, so I'd really like it if my stuff was appreciated and interacted with more outside of just my own house XD ( Dating myself saying this, but I remember the days when the internet wasn't so competitive )

Instagram (I'm below 100 followers, but am really trying to grow more there. I post my art, books and animals with the infrequent selfie) :

Here's some detail shots of my first Kaiju as well as the prompt I'm using! RT/Like it if you can!

Also- there are more art prompts for June than I originally expected.

Keep your eye on all of my page(s) to see all of my Kaiju Creations for June! KAIJUNE! *insert Godzilla roar that may or may not be public domain*

It's a personal tradition of mine to celebrate two kinds of new year annually - January 1st as well as the date of Asian Lunar Year (which in common tongue translates to 'Chinese New Year').

This is the new year of the Ox!

(Next year is the Tiger and that one is among the most important to me because a Tiger is apart of my signs :D )

Stampeding in, the Ox supports the idea of being more grounded and gives extra willpower to dish out honest hard work to become our own 'cleanup' crew for that garbage year we had last year! I think most people can agree it was the worst year of their life, maybe not everyone -but most. I definitely agree with it.

I only built that up to say 2020 is being BULLdozed and I'm grabbing this year by the horns.

There are so many bovine-related wordplays/puns out there it is almost shameful.

Here's some new celebration art to kick off this Lunar New Year. I really enjoyed making this one! The description maybe long enough to rival a Stephen King novel- but it's important to me! Rate me something really nice will you?

I'm new as a NG user but this isn't the first time I've heard of this website. I've known about this place since the dinosaurs were alive and well.

I don't think I'll be too super active here, but it doesn't hurt to cover your bases.

I'm not looking for feedback on improvement- I just want to share my art with the world and if I meet some cool people in the process then so be it! I also really don't care about the voting system- tbh I see all of my work as 5 stars personally, with only the lowest being maybe a 4.5 or so. (I'm confident in myself and abilities, I don't really need the validation) Not everything I make is my best, but I certainly am proud of it all and you can expect me to not upload pure shit to this account anyway.

So be sure to follow me along, toss a few faves my way, and most of all- Enjoy my work!

Visit my links tab above for my other accounts across the web! I'd appreciate a follow on my other platforms too. I post stuff on each one you wont see here.

I want to say "Dont be afraid to drop a line or say hi" but at this point I feel like thats something people just say to each other until one of them dies first.
